OTTAWA — In 2023, as Canada suffered through its worst-ever wildfire season, the federal government was looking at creating a national disaster response agency. Two years later, the country is again facing another summer of wildfires.

REGINA — Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is resisting an Opposition call to bring in the military to combat wildfires that have forced thousands from their homes.

The city is seeking donations for nearly 200 wildfire evacuees who arrived with few or no personal belongings.

The SPSA is in daily contact with Public Safety Canada in determining what resources may be needed from the federal government and will request resources from the federal government, if needed, to support efforts.

Statement from City of Regina says they are providing access for evacuees to transit, local amenities and leisure activities.
