Severe thunderstorm watch issued for parts of southern Sask

The threat for severe thunderstorms will continue as these storms move northeastwards.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of southern Saskatchewan.

The advisory was issued May 12 and covers the Regina, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn and Assiniboia areas, among others. A total of 136 RMs are affected.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," the advisory states. 

"The threat for severe thunderstorms will continue late this evening and into the overnight hours as these storms move northeastwards."

It's the first severe thunderstorm watch of the season for Estevan, Weyburn and other areas.
