Burrowing Owls have returned to the prairies after a long migration from their wintering grounds in Texas and Mexico. Breeding season is currently underway for these endangered owls.

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced that public health measures around outdoor sporting activities will be eased as part of Step One of the Re-Opening Roadmap, set to commence on May 30.

More farmers have been able to get out into the field this week. Seeding is up from nine per cent last week to 38 per cent this week. This is well ahead of the five-year average (2016-2020) of 22 per cent.

鈥淚 think people are reading more聽because they have a lot more time on their hands聽and limited opportunities聽for聽other activities,鈥� said Branch聽Librarian, Lori聽Crighton.聽鈥淧eople are saying they appreciate libraries more now.

The students in Laurie Hawkins鈥� Grade 8 Art Class at Assiniboia Elementary are learning about more than drawing and painting. 鈥淪tudents don鈥檛 always see the relevance of school projects but Kidvertising is 鈥榟ands on鈥欌��, she said.

In an effort to use unique ways to engage with the community, Assiniboia RCMP Detachment kicked off National Police Week with Decorate the Detachment day on May 11.

Eligibility in the provincial age-based immunization program moved to age 37 and older as of May 4, except for residents living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District, where it moves to age 18 and older.
