Police seize cocaine while making arrest in Saskatoon

Officers observed two males who allegedly assaulted a taxi driver a few days earlier.

SASKATOON - Two people are facing charges after police recognized them as believed to have been involved in an assault a few days earlier.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., May 9, patrol officers were travelling in the area of Rusholme Road and Avenue X North when they observed two males who allegedly assaulted a taxi driver a few days earlier. When approached by police, one suspect was taken into custody while the other fled.

A foot pursuit ensued before the man was eventually apprehended and taken into custody. Police found the men to both be in possession of cocaine upon their arrest; a total of 680 grams was seized. 

Two men, ages 22 and 23, are both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, resist arrest, and possession of proceeds of crime. The 22-year-old man faces additional charges of assault and possession of methamphetamine.
