Cara Zubko’s career in hockey began at an early age and skyrocketed through the years. Her love of the game has kept her goals in line as she continues her hockey career.

The Roughrider Snowmobile club hosted its third-annual family snowmobiling day on February 21. It was held at the May Lake Shack located on the Trans Canada Trail about two kilometres from Sturgis.

The United Church Players are gearing up for their annual spring play that is set to take place in three communities over three days. Practices have begun and take place every Monday and Wednesday at the Trinity United Church in Preeceville.

The Town of Preeceville and numerous businesses sponsored a movie afternoon at the Preeceville Legion Hall on February 18.

Registrations followed a pancake breakfast to kick off the 30th annual Kelvington Trail Blazer snowmobile derby on February 6. There were 221 riders participating in the 100-mile trek through the forest.

A group representing Swan River/Pelly farmers, which has as its main goal to have the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) reinstated, unanimously passed a resolution to that effect at an open meeting on February 10 in Swan River.

After close to 350 performers participated in the Parkland Music Festival at the Canora Composite School during the week, a number of the top candidates performed for the final concert on February 13. About 75 persons attended the concert.
