REGINA - Average retail gasoline prices in Regina have fallen 0.4 c/L in the past week, averaging 133.82 c/L Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 82 gas outlets in Regina. This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.8 c/L in the last week to 133.79 c/L, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Regina during the past week, prices Sunday were 21.9 c/L lower than the same day one year ago and are 6.1 c/L lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 3.4 c/L during the last month and stands 33.1 c/L lower than this day one year ago.
"Last week brought modest changes at the pump across most of Canada, with the national average seeing little movement— most provinces recorded declines of less than half a cent per litre," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "British Columbia was the notable exception, where prices jumped 4.1 cents per litre due to refinery issues on the U.S. West Coast that tightened supply. Meanwhile, there may be some encouraging short-term news globally, as OPEC+ has agreed to increase oil production starting in June. Oil prices continue to hover near their lowest levels since the pandemic, and while gasoline inventories have been tightening due to ongoing refinery maintenance, that pressure should ease in the coming weeks. As refiners return to full capacity, Canadians may see more noticeable declines at the pump heading into June— especially if oil prices remain soft and global supply grows."
