MOOSE JAW — Several Moose Jaw greenhouses are getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day for the weekend of May 10 and 11 with events, discounts, and flowers ready to honour moms across the city.

Keon Garden Centre

, Mother’s Day isn’t just another day — it’s a weekend-long festivity filled with activities and family-friendly treats.

“Mother’s Day is a big weekend for us; we all really love it,” said owner Marcy Duffey. “It’s one of the really fun things that we do, and it has grown to almost 200 kids last year. We will have a table set up with some really pretty plants and cute little coloured pots, and kids can come in and make their mom a Mother’s Day pot.”

Duffey said there’s a small $6 fee to cover materials, and the event is set to run on both Saturday and Sunday. Greenhouse staff enjoy the event as much as the kids do.

“Honestly, the staff fight over who gets to do the project with the kids. They all really enjoy it,” she said.

Keon Garden Centre will additionally serve cookies baked fresh from the Maple Leaf Bakery alongside punch on Sunday. Lemon Heaven will stop by with a vending truck for a few extra onsite refreshments.

The selection of hanging baskets, houseplants, and giftware continues to draw in families looking to spend time together and bond over their shared love of plants — even if mom can’t make it to the greenhouse.

“There are moms that have to work that weekend, but I always make sure they go home with a nice plant,” she added.

Keon Garden Centre is located at 1645 Stadacona Street West and can be reached at 306-693-6771. For more information visit or “” on Facebook.

Just A Girl In Her Garden

Just A Girl In Her Garden is opening its seasonal greenhouse and a new in-town stop-and-shop studio this year — a shift from earlier plans to remain closed for the 2025 season.

Owner Jacqueline Williams confirmed the greenhouse will be open as of May 5, with the new stop-and-shop location set to open on Friday, May 9 — just in time for Mother’s Day.

“We’ll have fresh-cut flowers in town for people to pick up, as well as potted plants,” Williams said, adding that delivery is available for houseplants and annuals. “There’s a fee for that, but we would definitely deliver if (customers) want to call in their orders.”

Although Williams has no specific plans to celebrate Mother’s Day, both the greenhouse and stop-and-shop studio will have a wonderful range of plants, floral arrangements, and gifts for mom.

The greenhouse is located south of Moose Jaw and can be accessed by turning south down Range Road 2272 off Highway 363. You’ll find it 11.2 kilometres ahead and on your right.

The new stop-and-shop studio is located at 937 High Street West.

Just A Girl In Her Garden will be open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The greenhouse will remain open until around mid-July or while supplies last.

Windmill Greenhouses

, following its annual “Gardening by Moonlight” event that ushered in a new season of gardening on May 2.

For Mother’s Day, the greenhouse will hold its second mainstay event featuring more home-baked goods and punch served onsite. This year, Windmill is partnering with 800 CHAB, offering gardeners a chance to win one of 12 hanging flowerpots by calling in to share their gardening stories.

“Our customers just can’t wait; they’ve got their green thumbs ready,” said manager Breanna Wells.

Wells said specialty tropical plants, vegetables and giftware — including solar lights, mugs and themed gifts — will be available. She also creates custom arrangements to demonstrate how different plants can be placed together.

Windmill Greenhouses is open Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. After Mother’s Day on May 11, its hours will expand to Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Windmill Greenhouses is located at 1640 Ominica Street East and can be reached at 306-692-1663.
