Robert Godfrey loves karaoke. He鈥檚 been a regular on the stage at Gibby鈥檚 Pub on Thursday nights, entertaining spectators with his spins on popular songs.

But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Godfrey and his fellow karaoke enthusiasts have been forced to look for other ways to sing along with the hits. So Godfrey has taken to Facebook with weekly Kuarantine Karaoke on Saturday nights.
鈥淚 was talking to a couple of my friends on the phone, and I said 鈥業f there鈥檚 one thing that鈥檚 really getting to me in all of this isolation, it鈥檚 that I can鈥檛 go out and do karaoke,鈥� Godfrey told the Mercury.
After the conversation, he decided he wanted to do more than singing in the house on his own. So he put together a studio in his basement for a one-off performance of five of his favourite songs to post on Facebook.
The next morning, he couldn鈥檛 believe the response to the videos that he posted. People he barely knew saw the video and shared it.
鈥淥ne of the best things about it is I just saw all the people who said it gave them something to enjoy in these unique times,鈥� said Godfrey.
So he decided he would do it again with five more songs, and he then decided to do a request show.
鈥淚t鈥檚 something that I look forward to doing every week, and I just have a lot of fun with it.鈥�
There was also a show that he did on a Thursday night with some slower songs.
Godfrey expects he will continue to do this at least until he can start to perform in front of a live audience again, and he鈥檚 having so much fun with it that he expects it will continue even after restaurants are able to open again, and karaoke nights resume. 聽
Another edition of Kuarantine Karaoke is expected to be posted on Saturday night. Godfrey said he is taking requests for the performance.
