Alameda's fish derby attracted many anglers

ALAMEDA — The Alameda Community Rink's 28th annual fishing derby once again raised money for recreation in the community.

The event was held June 28 at Grant Devine Lake. Anglers of all ages turned out and tried to catch the largest fish in their respective division and win a cash prize.

In the adult division, Mandi Kirby took top spot with a catch of 7.94 pounds. Clinton Harkins was a close second at 7.885 pounds and John Magnusson was right behind in third at 7.815 pounds. Annamae Frey was fourth at 6.895 pounds and Steven Valentine came in fifth at 6.310 pounds.

In the youth division, Rex Tello was the winner with a catch of 5.055 pounds. Oaklen Bounteau was second at 4.31 pounds, Jace Bussiere came in third at 3.135 pounds, Lennox Elliott was fourth at 3.086 pounds and Bowyn Freitag was fifth at 2.575 pounds.

Supper was served at the Alameda rink after the fishing. An online auction was also part of the event, raising more funds.
