SASKATOON – A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Saskatoon man who was murdered in Edmonton. As of May 6, the GoFundMe has already raised $13,265 of its $15,000 goal.
Emanuelle Moraga, 33, was found dead inside a vehicle in the area of 56 Avenue and 199 Street shortly after midnight on April 29. Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers from the West Branch responded to reports of a disturbance at approximately 12:15 a.m., where they discovered Moraga deceased at the scene.
The GoFundMe started by Loreto Cortes, says, “but people knew him as Emmy. He was taken from us too soon and we would like to help the family by raising money to cover cost for funeral expenses.
“For everyone that knew Emmy, knew him mostly and famously for his smile, humor and laughter- if you know, you know. Emmy lived life to the fullest and made sure to enjoy all those things with those he loved most. A huge loss has been felt across the Latin community today and we hope the family can find some peace in the mist of such a tragedy & loss. Emmanuel was one of a kind and will be truly missed by so many.”
According to Moraga’s obituary, there will be a celebration of his life on May 10 in Saskatoon.
EPS charged Tolga Boyaci, 21, with second-degree murder. A second male who was arrested has since been released without charges.
