Regina man charged with 1st-degree murder in Aron Lunan's death

The body of Aron Lunan, 31, was discovered in a rural area near Grand Coulee on June 10.

REGINA – Police have charged Britain Volk with first-degree murder in the death of Aron Lunan last month.

Volk, 24, was arrested following an investigation by RCMP Major Crimes and Regina Police Service (RPS) Major Crimes Units. He makes his first appearance in Regina court Thursday.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit initially led the investigation, treating the death as suspicious before RPS confirmed it is a homicide. The body of Lunan, 31, was discovered in a rural area near Grand Coulee on June 10.

After further investigation, RCMP and RPS determined the case originated in Regina.

Aron’s father, Allan Lunan, expressed grief and frustration over his son’s death telling SaskToday that he was killed in Regina and his body dumped “like a piece of meat” in a rural area.

Described as a devoted musician and outdoorsman, Aron was known for his love of playing guitar, drums, and singing, said Allan. He also shared a passion for dirt biking with his father and brother. Allan fondly recalled his son’s unwavering support, particularly during his own battle with COVID-19 in 2021.

Aron had been working with a counselor in Regina trying to straighten out his life before his death, said Allan.
