REAL board chair Jaime Boldt confirms the removal of seven senior management-level positions.

REGINA — The Regina Exhibition Association Ltd. (REAL) has confirmed parting ways with senior management-level workers.

On Tuesday, REAL board chair Jaime Boldt said seven staff members were let go as part of a restructuring.

Boldt said this was part of a motion passed by Regina city council months ago, asking REAL to consider options for its future.

One of those options could be maintaining REAL as a municipal corporation.

This option would see advancing financial efficiencies to reduce REAL’s costs and management positions while developing a new governance and business model. This aimed to provide effective public services while managing public spending better.

“This led us to a point where we needed to take a really hard look at the structure [of REAL],” said Boldt.

With the restructuring, Boldt said this will create more efficiencies to be more financially responsible.

REAL has seen other recent management changes after Trent Fraser was appointed interim CEO back in April.

At the time, Boldt said Fraser's primary goal was to find ways to save costs and improve efficiency at REAL over the next few months.

Over the last few years, Regina has increased funding to REAL in light of their debt, operating deficit, and cash flow challenges. City council approved an 11.2 million budget for REAL during 2025 budget deliberations.

Looking ahead, further changes to REAL upper management are coming next week as Boldt confirmed the appointment of a new permanent CEO.
