NORTH BATTLEFORD — Last weekend North Battleford tipped their hats and showed their red necks as the city hosted the 52nd annual Kinsmen Rodeo at the Access Communications Centre.

A turnout of more than 5,000 spectators flocked to the venue throughout the weekend. Saturday alone, 2,000 people attended.

This year's rodeo featured a lineup of rodeo stars hailing from various regions across Canada, as well as four competitors travelling all the way from Australia making a grand total of over 300 entries.

Heath Gabruch, chair of the organizing committee, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from the community.

“The community comes out every year and supports this event in such a huge way; we appreciate it so much and thank everyone for coming and being a part,” he said.

Gabruch’s commitment to the rodeo runs deep, as he has been involved for more than 30 years, and his family's history in the event traces back to its inception.

“The funds that are raised go back into the community,” Gabruch said.

After the weekend concludes, he said, the organizing committee will tally the income and decide how best to allocate those resources back into initiatives that benefit the community.
